Many students hope that their time in college includes an encounter with “Great Books,” those works of the humanities that have helped generations better understand the human condition and that have shaped our culture. Others question the validity of the term. What makes Great Books great and why should we read them? What is the purpose of a liberal-arts education and what role can the Great Books play in that? Join us as we kick off the semester with a discussion of these questions, led by Morningside’s executive director, Dr. Nathaniel Peters.
