In Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, Nemorino pines for the bookish Adina but is unable to win her—until a doctor comes to town selling a mysterious elixir guaranteed to make those who drink it fall in love. The result is one of the most beloved comic operas, but there are darker undertones and more complexity beneath the slapstick and great singing. Join Morningside on Friday, January 27 at 6 PM for a pre-concert talk at our office with Nicholas Chong (Rutgers) before we head to the Met for the performance. We will cover the cost of dinner and tickets, but attendance for this event is limited and will be determined by lottery. We hope you’re able to join us!
