Religion and Politics in Pascal’s Pensées

  • The Morningside Institute 91 Claremont Avenue Floor 11 New York, NY, 10027 United States (map)

The great mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal left behind his Pensées, a collection of fragmented sayings on philosophy and religion. Pierre Force (Columbia) will guide us through a close reading of a few of these enigmatic fragments that reflect on how Christians should understand politics, with a focus on the relationship between popular opinion and elite opinion.

This dinner seminar will be led by Professor Pierre Force (Columbia). It is open to all undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates.
