Tonight’s event has been moved to the Morningside Offices (91 Claremont Ave). See this link for instructions for entry.
In this session we will examine some of the ways disability is construed in the law and by disability scholars themselves, and the limits of those construals. It is common to contrast a “social model of disability,” according to which the truly disabling effects of bodily and cognitive impairment are produced by an oppressive political system, with a “medical model of disability,” according to which disability is an individual deficit. Are these our only options? Are they good ones? Are there some instances of disability that they leave out?
On Tuesday, February 11, at 6:30 PM, join the Morningside Institute for this dinner seminar in the Earl Hall auditorium with Justin Hawkins (CUIMC) on disability and human dignity. Dinner will be provided.
Register with the form below, and please reach out to us at info@morningsideinstitute.org if you will require any accommodations entering or during the event.
