Beethoven’s only opera tells the story of how Leonore, disguised as a prison guard named Fidelio, rescues her husband from death in a political prison. This Met production features some of the greatest singers alive, including soprano Lise Davidsen and bass René Pape.
On Friday, March 7, at 5 p.m. join Morningside for a pre-concert discussion of Fidelio and the Enlightenment’s view of freedom with Professor Nicholas Chong (Rutgers) before attending the performance. Dinner and tickets to the opera will be provided.
