For 400 years the Lamentations have been an iconic musical portrayal of grief and sorrow, and the adjoining pieces show how the upheaval of social and religious revolution affected musical traditions. We will discuss these and other ideas over dinner with musicology professor Nicholas Chong immediately preceding the performance.
