Norman Podhoretz, one of America’s greatest living journalists, graduated from Columbia and Oxford before going on to serve as the longtime editor of Commentary. In 1967, Podhoretz published Making It, an autobiography recounting his rise from working-class Brooklyn to New York’s left-wing intellectual elite. The first chapter appeared as an article in Harper’s and poses questions that endure for us today: How are education and culture inherently bound up with class? Can you go to college without betraying your roots?
On Monday, June 10th, join us for a dinner seminar on Podhoretz’s “Making It.”
